About Myself

Hello! My name is Beth and I provide private tutoring for students who struggle with reading.

Based in Chattanooga TN but also offering sessions online, I use a structured literacy method known as Orton-Gillingham.

Structured literacy programs are believed to be incredibly effective for those who have difficulty spelling and reading because they are systematic, diagnostic, and responsive. Orton-Gillingham also embraces a multi-sensory approach that combines visual, auditory, and tactile elements for an effortlessly engaging learning experience.

With a master’s degree in special education, ESL certification and specialized training from the Institute for Multi-Sensory Education (IMSE), I am fully qualified to help your child thrive.

Aside from evidence-based methods, I get to know each of my students personally to discover the most effective learning style for them. A creative at heart, I also make engaging materials for children to take with them once they finish tutoring. Invested in your child’s success, I hope these resources serve as a useful reference point as they continue their academic careers.

Most importantly, I celebrate the small wins and big breakthroughs to ensure your child not only learns to read easier but also comes to love it too.

After my master’s degree in 2010, I worked in a number of schools and special education settings, including a long-term tenure at The Montessori School. Here, I often worked one-on-one with special needs students to develop both confidence and comprehension, igniting a passion for the part I could play in their progression.

To support a more diverse scope of students, I finished my Orton Gillingham Training at IMSE and set up Beth Reed Tutoring, inspired by any child who needs a little helping hand.

Whether your little one is learning English as a second language, has special educational needs, or simply struggles to keep up with their classmates, I can help. Contact me today to see how we can start writing a new story to success.
